Sun, January 15, 2006 - 10:08 PMthanks for the info...
you mentioned you got to hear early mixes.....
I am curious, is it a more dance-electronic/techno oriented album, electro-dub(like the Astrid Monroe- "when I was young" cd), ambient-experimental, or his old hyper-delic prog. rock type stuff??
Or maybe a combination of all of the above?? Or what was your take on it?

Re: PTV3?
Mon, April 3, 2006 - 8:36 PMTrip Reset was the last PTV album, released ten years ago (aside from re-releases/remix albums). One is in the works and should be released I would expect this fall.
As for Thee Majesty, I believe there are three or four of those, and some of them have been released multiple times, some of them as simply "GPO + Splinter Test" or "GPO + whomever". S/he did one with Merzbow, I believe. I highly recommend the one I have, which is hir and Larry Thrasher, called Thee Fractured Garden. -

Re: PTV3?
Tue, April 4, 2006 - 2:43 AMYes. I love that Splinter Test cd "Thee Fractured Garden" -
- I bought it in 1995(along with Trip Reset, another GREAT cd) & I have a LOT of good ol' memories of shrooms, LSD, XTC & THAT cd~ "Thee Fractured Garden"~ as well as "Trip Reset" TOO!
;-)
But, you mentioned that Thee Majesty is re-releasing OLD Splinter Test albums under the name of THEE MAJESTY. IMO, that is truly a sad & pathetic attempt to 'repackage" old material under a new guise, so unsuspecting people MIGHT buy it.
That DOES make sense now though, because after purchasing "Not Alone"(the 5 cd box set that has a "Thee Majesty" track on it) I was a bit annoyed at something.
I was ALL excited to hear a LOT of "exclusive/unreleased" tracks by Coil, Thighpaulsandra, NWW, C-93, Marc Almond, Edward Ka-spel, Cyclobe, "THEE MAJESTY", and a BUNCH of other cool artists.
SO, I listen to the "Thee Majesty" track to see what it's all about~
and I just started laughing!
Because the song was a track off Splinter Test's 1995's "Thee Fractured Garden" cd.
And it ACTUALLY says so in the books credits.
To ME, that is sad~
that Gen takes an OLD Splinter Test track and actually uses the name "Thee Majesty" for it.
EVERY other artist came up with a NEW track for the comp( w/ a special cause; helping those w/ AIDS in Africa).
And Gen, well he was the ONLY artist out of the bunch to not only release an old track( by Splinter Test) BUT, to list it under the guise of a NEW band(Thee majesty) at the same time!
I don't know what anyone else thinks~
but IMO, that's kind of sad.
He could of EASILY whipped up a new track or at the VERY least, put a track from his "forethcoming" new album on the (5XCD) comp.~
but he did neither!
And to me that's kind of lazy & pathetic.
I mean: SURE, everyone IS busy. ALL those musicians are busy. Thighpaulsandra is XXXTREMELY busy right now, yet they all found the time to put an exclusive/new track to the comp~
except for Gen.
Does that not bother anyone else here at all? -

Re: PTV3?
Tue, April 4, 2006 - 11:06 AMDo you know what (if any) The Majesty cds -arent- re-releases? -
-
Re: PTV3?
Tue, April 4, 2006 - 5:09 PMWell I do know that the (1999) cd "Time's Up" by Thee Majesty is not a re-release(it is their first album actually) because it contains "new" spoken words/music that I haven't really heard before -
- although a few of Gen's lines(in Times Up) have been said/used before in other albums trax or essays/liner notes, etc.
But basically for the most part, Time's Up is a new cd and therefore not a re-release.
Unfortunately, because Time's Up is the only Thee Majesty cd I own, I am not sure about Thee Majesty's other albums( as I have not seen or heard them) so I can't give you an answer to their other cd's.
Maybe someone else here(on the tribe) can.
But, if what you said the other day IS true, that Thee Fractured Garden was re-released as a Thee Majesty cd,
well than I can tell you that this cd, under the guise of Thee Majesty is actually a 10 year old album by Splinter Test called "Thee Fractured Garden". -
